How It Works

Have you ever gone to bed with a problem on your mind and then woken up the next morning with the answer? What about your journey into work this morning, can you remember it? Or have you ever got up to go into the kitchen and by the time you arrived, forgotten what you went for?

Most of us are familiar with instances like this. Sometimes we call it "automatic pilot", which is an apt description because it's exactly what's happening. Our subconscious mind takes over and leads us down a path, and we're not even aware of it.

We don't remember the journey because our mind is, in effect, driving for us. We don't remember what we went into the kitchen for because our subconscious mind alerted us to something we needed and then moved on to something else, so we forget.

Hypnotherapy and the other techniques involve changing the way the subconscious mind works to create real changes in conscious thinking or behaviour.

This subconscious mind is the product of all our experiences and life to date. It governs what we do, how we think, how we feel and a host of other factors. So if we feel anxious, or have a phobia, or self-esteem issues, it could be because of something that happened in our past and now controls us.

You can talk to and reprogamme the subconscious mind. You can swap the messages it sends you for something more positive, rather than something which hinders you. Your subconscious will take whatever you give it without question, whether it's good or bad. When it repeats things back to you and instructs you to do something, you'll do it.

If you're a smoker, for example, your subconscious may tell you that you always have a cigarette with your morning coffee or at certain other times. If you can switch off that signal, you won't feel the need or desire to smoke. If you feel compelled to eat too much of the wrong foods, or not motivated to take exercise, then hypnotherapy can help you to switch off that signal and substitute it for something more useful and helpful instead.

Imagine the power of training your subconscious mind to only give you positive, useful messages and instructions, rather than damaging ones. That's the power of training the subconscious through hypnotherapy and the other techniques.
